LPG Gas test

For all the people who have a gas test done on there caravan/motorhome. You have to be ACOPs approved at LPG...Most think Corgi is the regs but it isnt, You have to be certified to work with LPG. Corgi regd people cannot work on LPG unless certified to work with natural gas and LPG,ACOPs is the minimum level to work on LPG.....

Hello Simon,

Unless the regs have changed recently, to work on a private touring caravan where gas is not supplied by pipes, the requirement does not call call for certification of the fitter, However the rest of regs do apply and that does call for the person to be "competent".

It is s subtle difference, and I do not know why or how the anomaly came about.

It is in my view silly to make touring caravans a special case,as they more than virtually any other installation is subject to vibration and other environmental conditions that can easily deteriorate the mechanics of the system.

The full regulations apply to all other 'caravans' and mobile homes, and to touring caravans owned by a business or rented out.

John..

How do you personally define a competent person,Someone who has worked on LPG or someone who is certified, at the end of the day i can do a compression fitting no probs, I can do a test to make sure there are no leaks as can the next person. To me competent is being able to work within the regs, also if the caravan is rented out diff regs apply....

Corgi has been replaced by the gas safe register.

Someone that is "gas safe" might not be qualified to work on LPG, you have to take extra exams on top of your nat gas exams to be able to work on LPG. The way you know is to look on the back of the gas safe card and it shows you which categories they can work on. I dont like the idea that anyone that thinks they are "competent" can work on their gas on their caravan, not from some of the things I have seen people do, but I do know that some people are quite capable of doing so safely.

What do you mean by no shut off and hose from the regulator straight into the van, ive been caravanning since the 1960s and had 10 vans in that time and all of them just had a hose from the regulator into the front locker no shut off
