Lucksall park hereford

Hi just had our first outing to this park with our new coachman pastiche, is this park really bad for tv signal as our ariel, (new type black antenna stick thing)wouldnt pick up anything that we could watch, only itv and so bad we turned it off, always had directional arials before, every one else had a picture but us!!
Thanks Maddy

Hello Madeleine,
I would be tempted to ask the Park management whether your pitch normally suffered tv reception problems, and if it does not, and bearing in mind that other vans around you received a good signal, contact your van supplier and explain that the Ariel is not satisfactory. I am amazed that Coachman have reverted to a omni directional Ariel, which always was a compromise. You may be able to get the dealer to fit a directional one in its stead. Good luck.

yes I tuned the tv , its the brand new type of ariel that doesnt have any booster to turn on, we did buy a booster, but guy at Avtex said this was a waste of time as would only boost a bad signal that we were getting, as far as I can see its a rubbish product and will be getting back on to the dealer in yorkshire, its just a trek to take the van back for us and weve not much free time before our next outing.
Thanks Maddy

Hi
Yes i asked at reception and they said it wasnt too bad on this pitch, and as you say both neighbours had reception so I think its a case of taking it back to Yorkshire (pain) and getting it (hopefully) sorted with them,
Thanks

Hello Madeleine,
Apparently it is an Avtex Ariel. Although it is not one of his Vision Plus units if you ring Harvey on011597141 he is a most helpful person. Explain your situation and see what he can suggest. He is well aware of the type of Ariel you have got on the Coachman.

Hi Rodone would you check that number for me please as there seems to be some numbers missing, its a nottingham number which is not far from me. thanks again

Just called, the mans a real star, so helpful, I need to get back in touch with caravan dealer and then take it from there, I think its going to be a case of proving the product isnt as good as it should be!
thank you for all your help.
Madeleine

Not surprised you can't get a good reception, the aerial is one of those daft omni-directional types that can't pickup a signal in a weak signal area.
One of our caravans had one of these Omni - directional aerials fitted and it was useless - even with a signal amplifier (except in strong signal areas),we always took a hitch mounted directional aerial with us which we invariably used.
Most caravan manufactures now use directional aerials.

Morning All
were taking the van back to dealers on Saturday, hoping they will be open to our views on this, will let you know how we get on, also going to contact Coachman to let them know how disappointed we are, Had swifts for years without many problems maybe the change was a bad move! We will see-------------
Regards

Hello Maddie, if you Google Avtex Onidiectional Ariel there is lots there telling you what you need to know! It is certainly not the most popular piece of kit!
