Hi all, getting van ready to go away March only to find water in the rear lockers under the bed! Have no idea where leaking is from, any advice?

Effectively no Lunar, I don’t think the new owners took on responsibility for vans made by the old company. But you still may have luck dealing with your dealer under the CRA. If you attempt anything yourselves you may miss that opportunity.

It could be a locker seal and driving rain. If you can. Open locker doors etc. In fine weather to assist drying out.

Judging by pics of the model there is a rear island bed against the rear wall, so maybe water is getting in around or through the rear external locker hatch?

Thanks John, yes I have done that and it has dried out fine. What puzzles me though was that the bedroom carpet was wet also……..strange 🤨

Yes that appears to be the most logical explanation as the bedroom carpet was also wet??? Time will tell I guess but thank you for your reply

Many thanks for your response. Was a private sale but I will continue to explore my options on finding how/why this has happened.

I would have a damp survey carried out by an AWS technician. Just because it appears to have dried doesn’t mean water isn’t still getting in albeit at a slower rate. When towing on wet roads there’s a deal of turbulence that could ‘ mimic” the effects of the recent stormy weather. Caught early damp can be sorted without too much expense and rip out.

Cost of full damp survey £50-60 so well worth the outlay.

When towing on wet roads there’s a deal of turbulence that could ‘ mimic” the effects of the recent stormy weather. Caught early damp can be sorted without too much expense and rip out.

Cost of full damp survey £50-60 so well worth the outlay.

Good advice thank you. I did take a meter with me and no signs of damp at the time. Where it is stored, there is no hook up for electric so to clean inside I used a hose through the window to clean the shower and boiled a gas using kettle for hot water. Just wondering if water leaked from a pipe as water went down the shower/kitchen sink as was dry before hand. Wet only started to my knowledge in the past 4/5 days so possibly the evidence of storm getting in some other way?

Have you checked the seals around the lockers as water may be leaking past them into the caravan? We had an issue with water getting past the mastic as the mastic had "dried" out. Another issue we had was damp under the bed due to condensation and thsi caused mould. There was insufficient ventilation under the bed. It was a Lunar with the rear island bed.

I had an issue on our Bailey toilet external door, water would flood in to the box and when it got to a certain level would enter the caravan.
The door seals are pretty rubbish and a new seal , cleaning all the apertures and silicone spray on the seal did not resolve the issue.
In the end I fitted a short length of Fiamma stick on guttering above the locker door and I have not had a problem in the two years since fitting it

Yes a friend did something similar and that resolved the issue so think I will have a go at that. Think it has got to be related somehow to the recent storms.

Morning, pretty sure it’s not condensation as plenty vents around the bed. You provide a valid point on seals so will check that out. Many thanks for the advice

A few years ago we had a problem on our Elddis Crusader toilet external door we found it would leak so they checked it over at the dealer and found the door had warped so they order a new door problem was solved lucky it was under warranty .and then the dealer brought it back to the Seasonal site . what great service .

I think the big issue with our Bailey is that they have (by design) fitted the door the wrong way, it hinges at the bottom and the lock/catch is not of high enough quality or tolerance to fully close against the seal
