hi all,
we are new to cararavan as we have had folding campers for the last 8 years.
Question is we have a large skylight over the front dining area. It is not a heki skylight. It has cassette blinds fitted to the skylight.
When we were away last week the blind part kept moving up and down with the wind draught (when the wind blew with the blind shut(at night)).
Is this normal or would a seal of some sorts stop this?.
the skylight is the sort that hinges at one end, you raise the other with handels for ventalation, but then the whole unit slides to the front of the caravan via a aluminium slide.
thanks in advance

Hi,
I take it that you had the rooflight (which I think you'll find is a Heki) open (even if only for ventilation)? If so, I'm afraid it is quite normal for the blind and/or flyscreen to come out of the tracks if it's windy. It's something else that looks good in design but hasn't been tested properly before us mere mortals take delivery!.

hi,
thanks for the reply.
sorry the van is a 2002 and this was at night with the vent closed.
i can actually feel a draught with the vent closed and secured shut with the handles.
thanks

We have the same roof light on our 2004 bailey, if you get a draught, which we do not with the roof closed, then it can only be a seal.

The problem we had is due to the cheap and nasty plastic used to construct it, the blind "runner" cracked along its length ,it looked a mess so i removed it completely, now we get a loud screeching noise every time the blinds are pulled across.
But no, draughts are not normal.

hi ray,
the next time you go in you van can you look to see if there is a seal between the glass(plastic) and the roof moulding.
thanks
