M & S Bank Car insurance

Does anyone have any comments on this insurance company,they are £60 less than Saga who we are currently with although the excess is £100 more in total.Saga say they cant do a better price.

I doubt very much if they are an insurance company. Probably a broker. We alway use the comparison sites and then choose on who offers the best deal which may not always be the cheapest. One of our cars is with SAGA and the other with Lloyds TSB.

I've found better insurance deals when not using comparison sites although they are useful for providing a ball park figure for my premium.
My own situation is slightly awkward because I drive a grey import 4x4 and some insurers are reluctant to quote and others load the premiums excessively. The only problem is that despite ticking the privacy boxes, my personal information is still shared and I have to field a deluge of spam emails and unwanted advertising phone calls after using some comparison websites.

M&S car insurance is placed with an insurer BISL who actualy underwrite the policy. I have no experience of them but I cannot see M&S placing you with a problem company. Tesco insurance is also with an insurer as Tesco do not own an insurer as are most policies branded by non insurance organisations.

You would indeed think you are pretty safe with M&S and it does indeed look like the retailer,i did wonder if they were a firm trying to hijack M&S's reputation but they do look genuine.Thanks for the input

M&S Bank is linked to the store group, The credit cards are operated by HSBC but not sure if they have any input into the insurance side.

I thought that BISL was a finance company allowing you to spread your paymenst over 12 months? Our policy with Lloyds/TSB is underwritten by the New India Assurance Company something I overlooked when setting up the policy.

Strange by modern standards I have been unable to establish who the "panel" of Insurers are.

Whatever you choose outside of the two Clubs Insurance check that towing caravans is covered!

Had a good read very interesting.To be fair a lot of the points that Which rate on dont affect us eg excess for young drivers,there is no courtesy car with this policy but as we only did 600 miles last year (600 yes,checked with MOT's) dont need one,key cover is only £400 so gets down marked,it looks fair cover for a low price.Caravan towing is covered,just got to email them to ensure fitting towbar doesnt count as a modification as it was proffessionally fitted after purchase.
