Mains water connection

We followed instructions on an earlier post on making a DIY mains water connection,Torbeck side inlet valve through a spare aquaroll cap,but and a big but:-

When tried at home the valve didnt shut off and water obviously kept flowing

Is there anything else we should have done or do we go back to lugging water as usually do We are not really normally lazy but are going on holiday this summer with brother-in-law and hos family who are tenting and expect all 8 of us will be using our water supply Can envisage an hourly trek to the tap as they guzzle tea like nobodys business and as we have a super pitch thought might as well use it

Thanks

Gill

Torbeck valves do not shut of straight away they take a few seconds to stop. They work on a water balance system. Try fitting to aquaroll and see what happens. I played about for ages trying to get mine to shut of, until I was given advice by a plumber.
