Major Refurb/Polish

So as I have been busy of late I have let my van go into a sorry state 🙁
A few years back I replaced the decals and unfortunately I didn't get the new ones in the exact position, it now looks terrible you can see where the old ones where,
I did try a small spot/area of G3 Compound , yes I know it's too abrasive but it did the trick, but my van is not aluminium sides, they are the polyester built.
So does any one know what the professional companies use?
Or the alternative is the Tourershine Refurb company which has good reviews, But expensive!!

Hi Kev, first re tourershine, I used them about 3 years ago on caravan I’ve since sold to a relative and apparently the shine is still great, I know when I had it done the results were absolutely amazing, no exaggeration!! I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Secondly in the past there have been times when I’ve needed something extra to shift stubborn marks, bird droppings, tar, black streaks which we all get etc etc and having read on here the warnings about abrasive cleaners I tried the cheapest own brand of cream cleanser from Tesco, if you rub it between your fingers you cant detect any abrasive, it works brilliantly, I washed my van yesterday and all the little tar specs came off easily, I’d be very surprised if this could wear through the paint on the van.

ive used Autoglym Super resin Polish on my cars previously with excellent results and a lasting shine.
really tempted to use it on the van.

I used it recently on my front grp locker which had become a bit matt. It worked fine with two application. Whilst it’s a polish and it does have some protectants in it I then applied some Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection to see how it compares to the alternative of using a wax to protect the shine.

Use it on cars and the van . Comes up gleaming . Will be doing it tmrw .

I use a variety of stuff. My first would be Silky. This is a water based compound that is soft, a bit like Gumption for those old enough to remember it, but not abrasive. It si good on rough plastics as well- AquaRoll etc. I use the Autoglym polish and then the extra shine. On the car it lasted over 12 months without a polish and still beaded. Didn't do so well on the caravan but I think I wasn't as careful applying it.

Thanks Waffler, tried the Autoglym in the past but still didnt do the job properly, but will look at the silky, thanks for that.

I use Silky for the plastic bits that seem to go yellowish with time. Things like battery box, Thetford etc. It brings them up well and as they arent painted or lacquered there's no risk of damaging any surface.

To get small tar stains off and any other small stains or blemishes off any surface in the caravan we simply use Magic Sponge from Wilko slightly dampened with cold water. Really works a treat.

I've always used MER on both car, Caravan & Motorhome-gives a superb shine
