Appologies Glenn but for some reason I can't open the link you gave .

That is a blow as it will hit so many cars (not just 4x4's).

Looks like I'll keep my 97 Maverick for ever ;O)

Any high CO2 emitting vehicle owners renewing their tax disc between now and early September is better off buying a 6 month disc now and then a 12 month disc before the rises take effect next March - that at least delays the effect.

My car is 1st September registered so using the above trick means I won't pay the high rate until renewing in March 2010.

alan said "Why do they have to up our bands as well??"

Because it's about money dressed up as a green initiative.

If the measures were to work and in the year 2009-2010 nobody drove a car with over 170g/km then they would loose money. When they have suckered everybody into driving low emmission cars they will lower the limit and increase the tax. They did it with euro 1V diesel engines so they have history.

If I were rich enough to buy a new car with emmissions up to 120g/km I would pay

A far greater threat to the world than emissions is population growth so how come the government do nothing about it , in fact they have increased child benefit?????

OMG.

Well I've given up the fags.

My beer price is increasing daily.

My diesel is going up and up.

Looks like I'll have to buy an ancient Austin A35 van and go back to camping in a farmers field.

Regression or progression??

Cheers

Alan
