Max torque

Is there anyone that can tell me how to convert (NM)into LBS per FT My hand book tells me that my max torque is

410(NM)What I want to know is

lbs per Ft and at what Revs it

is the vehicle is a BMW 530d . Also is (NM)a continental method of measurement , Ron

Hello Ron.Newton/metres is the "SI" (Systeme International)unit of torque. It is based upon the metric system,(although the metric measurement is kg/cm).To convert Nm into lbf/ft divide by 1.363.

I don't know what year your vehicle is but from the spec list for 2003, the 530 engine is listed as max torque 302 at 1750rpm.

Ron, NM is the metric measurement of torque.

To calculate conversion :

NM x 0.738 = lb/ft.

lb/ft x 0.138 = NM.

NM = Newton/metres

Thanks everyone for your information . I now know how much torque I have but I still don't know at what revs

I am afraid that being a carpenter , if it's not made of wood I am lost, I rang BMW

and they were unable to help me, but they are going to ring me back. Thank's again.

Ron

Ordinary cheap cars give all that information in their handbooks which come free with the car. I didn't realise that a decent handbook was an optional extra on a BMW!
