I joined the Caravan Clubs Mayday breakdown cover from Green Flag a couple of years ago and in the last two weeks I have had 3 mailshots from them asking me to take out cover that I already have. Had anyone else been getting them through the post.

Alexander, yes this happens a lot with companies!

The marketing department and accounts department do not speak to each other, and Marketing just put all the customer database into the computer and mail everyone, member or not at the time the system is set up.

As with all unwanted mailshots, it seems a shame not to return their empty post-paid envelopes - surely this is recycling?

I often receive mail shots from MBA, etc. regarding credit card membership. I shred the application form as it has my name and address on it but all other paperwork I place in the prepaid envelope and post it back to them. Recycling and also sending them "junk" mail for which they have to pay the postage.

The Caravan Club is one of the worst for junk mail because your details go out to all their "associated" companies even when the association is very tenuous.

I'm with Rob and Colin - I always void any documentation with my details on and then return it all in their pre-paid envelope. We consumers will have to pay for rubbish by the kilo in future, why should we?

As a further tweak to sending their envelopes back, I try and save them up and post in any remote rural post box we pass, so as to help keep them in operation.

Having said that, we don't get very much, as we are not on the "edited" version of the electoral role, and always tick any boxes not to be sent junk mail. We certainly don't get all ths CC stuff being mentioned.
