I test drove one ,against a Volvo V70 and a Honda Accord, I actually bought an Accord Exec, I found the Merc a bit noisy and low spec., The Accord has turned out to be a brilliant tow, bags of QUIET power and very economical.

Can't help with the C class but I bought a brand new E class and can't wait to see the back of it. Great to tow with but the electrical and quality probblems mean it has been off the road for 17 days since new in a year. Several of my friends also have similar cars and all are agreed never again.
