hi clive you asked what we will do there, we went for 3months last year and one of the highlights was 8 miles out in the atlantic watching dolphins went out on a rib at 39 knots bouncing over the waves that was at largos which is a very beautiful town and the beaches in the algarve are fantastic. we had just retired so took the 3months stayed at cabapino costa del sol,4weeks thatwas a c&cc rally which was very good and made a lot of good freinds, then Olhao 2weeks, Largos 2weeks,nazare 1week,Salamanca 1week,Biarritz 2weeks, Angers 1week and then back to Caen and Portsmouth total mileage 4535 this year we are leaving out France and going from Portugal across to Valenca and various other stops which we decide upon on our way as its low season there is plenty of space and a lot cheeper than high season. have a super time we shall!! roll on the sun;;;

Hi Peter - Many thanks for your reply. Sounds great on a cold Monday morning.

One of my retired clients does a similar thing and departs in Feb. I think he stays at the one place once their as there is quite a group that get together each year.

What an excellent way to spend the winter months. I always find the period after Christmas and New Year to be such a drag.

Wev'e just got back from a long weekend in St Malo. No caravan, but a group of caravan friends,Absolutely spoiled in a wonderful hotel just inside the walled old town.Being retired is fantastic!Can't wait to get the van out again tough.

Don't run away with the idea that it is all a bed of roses.

Even at this time of year it can be quite hot and when you are trying to concentrate on a game of boule you have to try and keep to the shade. You also have to be sure to stop the dreaded dehydration, the medicine for this is, luckily, quite cheap in Spain and Portugal.

Every day you wake up and lie in bed racking your brain what to do with the day - a hectic stroll on the beach - or are you just going to relax.

I tell you, its a hard job - but someones got to do it
