Messing about on the water

I know it's probably a bit early but i'm starting to think about next year's summer holidays.

We like to try something random for the first week before heading to the Lake District.

I love to watch cruisers and canal boats and their "captains and crew " going by and wondered if anyone knew of any nice quiet riverside sites.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

There is a CL site almost on banks of canal, it is listed in the CC directory. I can't quite remember the name, but it is either under Gailey or Coven. It is on the banks of the Shropshire Union Canal.

There is a site next to the canal at Whitchurch, Shropshire.

It used to be adult only. When we were there five years ago they were building a new shower block. You can't actually see the boats passing with the exception of where the gate is which leads out onto the canal towpath. There is a series of locks there.

Geoff have a look at Bridge House Marina, Nateby Crossing Lane, Garstang, just off the A6, Google earth it with PR3 0JJ

Both sites sound really nice so we will be doing some research into them both.

I reckon there is a good chance we will be visiting one of them.
