microwave safe dinner sets

hi i am after a new dinner set for my touring caravan been told that you cannot put melamine dinner sets in a microwave as it's good for them is this correct?

I'm pretty sure that a microwave would ruin melamine 'crockery' but a reasonably lightweight hard wearing and inexpensive substitute is Luminarc
We take just what we need in terms of crockery and cutlery to save weight, and the crockery is stored under the front lockers in plastic boxes when we're travelling.

Don't put melamine in a microwave 🤔 . I have a set of Corelle dinner ware. Brilliant. Really lightweight, crack and chip resistant and has a nice feel to it. Loads of different designs. I got mine from World Kitchen, on the web, but Argos seem to be doing it now.

Mel,I can confirm that melamine plates do not like being put in a microwave as we mistakenly put one in last month and it came out crinkled
