As the proud possessor of 2 sets of Milenco Aero's it's doubtful if I'll be going for the upgrade anytime soon :cheer:
The Milencos are very good towing mirrors though, perhaps they should consider selling the new shaped thumbscrews as a separate component part, rather than hoping to sell complete mirrors to those of us who already own Milenco Grand Aeros?
Part of a new sale is better than none

Just checked the website Parksy and yes you can just purchase the modified clamps. Thought I'd noticed them when I was looking for something else last week.

I hadn't realised that they already sold the component parts but it makes good sense for them.
I've still got an unused spare set apart from the set permanently in my 4x4 so it will be a while before I need replacements :)

I have this version of the Grand Aero (after advice from the forum members a couple of months ago). The mirrors are fantastic I must say. I did have one slight moan though and that was that there is a thin bit of rubber on the clamps that is coming away after a relatively short period of time… and that appears to be the upgrade. My advice is that if you do buy these clamps, and the rubber is very grippy, that you open the clamps right out out before trying to fit them. I read forum chat about folk setting their mirrors and not having to reset them once they had the mirror position correct so I tried it but the rubber inserts make that very tricky on my Sante Fe mirrors; I do have to loosen off the screws that adjust the angle of the clamps as well as the clamps themselves. Apart from that a very good mirror in my limited experience.

I use the mirrors and have had very little trouble although they do seem to need to be very firmly tightened.
Personally I would like to see rubber straps as well on a belts and braces approach.

Whilst mine are very secure with the new improved mirror gripper clamps, I would like to see an upgrade that allows TLHA to follow very basic instructions on how I want them adjusted, it would save a lot of time and would do away withthe need for me to get out severl times to adjust=check-adjust and so on. :p

Possibly electric adjustment like the cars might be the way forward. The curved mirror frame on our car does mean getting the placement the same every time is difficult and my wife gets very frustrated when I leap out of the car several times to get the nearside ones correct.

We have a system, there are two locked gates between the storage area and freedom and as Mrs spoon doesn't tow do the towing thing she is in charge of walking in front and unlocking the gates. I tow and stop periodically to allow her to catch up. it is during this time I now hop out and make adjustments; trying to relay exactly what I wanted just wasn't happening so it is easier to do it myself. the electric idea however I like... but I bet that it'd be pricey.

Saint spoon, I manage to line up my mirrors on SF almost every time, the RH one the clamp lines up with the line on the mirror, and I have put a small mark on the LH mirror and line up the same, then its just slight adjustment up and down on the thumb srews,
Looked into the electric ones,
Edit, Reich Mirror control, £346.46, ouch.

I have a set of the aeros for my Kia Sportage, Milenco apparently made the claps wedge shaped because of problems with Kia Door mirrors and possibly others as well. I found that they can be fitted but i did take several attempts to get a secure fit to the mirror housing that i was happy with. the shake was minimal and the view was very good with flat mirrors.

the driver's side always seem to be set up but the near side are always out for some reason. :(

Its called sods law. The one you have to get out to adjust is the one you need to deal with.

I fit towing mirrors when towing but find when driving I get information about what's going on behind me by looking into the car's mirror(s) more often than the towing mirrors(s).I'm slowly coming to the conclusion towing mirrors don't really give much additional rear view (only a wider field of vision). You still can't see directly behind as you can by looking out the car rear window from the rear view mirror(when solo).

Regarding the diagram below and assuming you cannot see through a back window
of your caravan.

You must be able to see all of the blue area in your rear view mirrors down both sides of your caravan.
If this is not the case with your outfit then you have incorrect or poorly adjusted mirrors.
If you only look in your normal car mirrors you will be blind to anything in the yellow area.

Mirror adjustment easy on the D-Max. I sit there and Mrs B hops out and does the ole 'left hand down a bit' routine. She's quite a bit more effective than Leslie ever was. :)

Hello Gafferbill,
I don't know if the diagram is your's or a government one.Either way it doesn't look right with the caravan shown so much wider than the car. These days caravans are wider than the car but not by that much.I reckon using the car's mirrors I can achieve the 4m wide field of vision measured from the side of the van.(the van being a lot less wide than shown in the diagram).By the way I can get the same field of vision on the nearside from the nearside car mirror.

It's not just the maximum width of the field of view, you are supposed to be able to see the length of both sides of the trailer when towing in a straight line, and still get the +4meters 20M back. That is only physically possible if the wing mirrors extend beyond the width of the trailer.

SAMBA car has split mirrors where the outer 25% is convex widening the view. Just a thought maybe that's what Bert ie has

That will widen the view further out to the offside Dusty, but not help on being able to see along the side of the caravan.
