Apparently no far from us a milk tanker crashed into a tree. Attending they have two paramedic officers, Hazardous Area Response Team, the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care car from Strensham and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford, alongside our colleagues from South Western Ambulance Service at the scene. See https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/new...=a897da76bfb17568ee4788a39d439e95&date=131224

If you look at the picture I am wondering why so many emergency staff are required as probably on a single driver in the cab. No mention of his condition, but hope is okay? Honeybourne is quite a long way from where a lot of the emergency services are based.

Maybe the initial call was just about a tanker that had crashed - assuming the worst, ie a fuel tanker, they scrambled everything?

Milk is a substance that needs to be kept firmly away from any water treatment facilities. The bugs within the facility far prefer milk to the "other" stuff!
Likewise It's needs keeping out of watercourses for different, but equally important, reasons.
As for attendance numbers the potential is for many, and serious injuries with a large vehicle. Better too many attend than those who do being overwhelmed by what they are presented with on arrival. As an ex traffic cop I can fully understand that.

In my day even if I got to the scene first, and tried to cancel the FIre Brigade, they would ALWAYS continue to attend, and always continue, at speed, on two's and blues, we used to call them "Exocets". Once launched they couldnt be stopped!

I often wonder what the consequences would have been if, whilst still attending flat out, but having been cancelled, they were involved in a serious crash?

Thanks for the response. Just a pity that the police were not so serious about crime like shop lifting, but then the courts give the miscreant a slap on the wrist, the govt lets them off and gives them compensation for being inconvenience while working! :D

Just this week one of our work colleagues was about to leave for work at 6.30am when he heard a crash outside, he went to investigate and a motorcyclist came of his bike on a sharp bend, called for an ambulance and was instantly told there was a waiting list!!
So he asked for the police who attended within 5 mins followed by 3 yes 3 ambulances, the motorcyclist has life threatening injuries.

Well if they are on other jobs they can't respond 🤷.
I recently had to wait a couple of hours for a category 2 ambulance - and then we got stacked in the car park for another 30 mins as A&E was full - when I eventually was discharged, there were 10 ambulance stacked waiting to unload - so that's where a lot of ambulances are tied up.

Would there be any need for the them to respond if there is an air ambulance at the scene?

You were lucky as due to no available beds my wife was left in the ambulance for over 8 hours. She was very close to leaving this mortal coil. However as you say when several ambulances have occupants, they cannot go anywhere. This is a common scene at the Worcester Royal hospital despite them spending millions upgrading the A&E area.

Just to add that once OH was off loaded from the ambulance, she was left in a corridor overnight and well into the next day before allocated a bed. She was put in the area for "no resuscitation" as they thought she was beyond help. This was just after Covid and nothing has changed since.

Maybe they were there before the air crew 🤔

I do hope the driver is not too badly hurt.

Milk is extremely hazardous to any water course, having a very high BOD, Biological Oxygen Demand, it literally strips the water of Oxygen, therefore anything living in said watercourse is a goner.

Hydrogen Peroxide is often used to treat a polluted water course, with a high BOD pollutant. Milk is deadly, and never good news.
