I have fitted one of these in the feed pipe work,to the last 3 new caravans we have bought using 3 adaptors, 1/2” BSP to 12 mm John Guest fittings.The shower tap is then left in the Hot position. You will also need Y adaptor to cut into the existing Cold feed to Shower wash basin pipehttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186821663114

That is a fantastic price. £40 odd pounds just a few years ago. Did you feed all taps or just the shower?{

I fed the washbasin and shower and set it to a comfortable washing temperature. Left the sink at hotter temperature. It’s located underneath the washbasin.Did present caravan new in 2023 the day I drove it home from the dealers as I had got all the parts ordered,. Had done two of our previous caravans the same so well proven. The wash basin and shower leave tap in hot position and just use it on and off.

I like the idea, what happens when you run out of hot water for the shower, does it just close off the supply, or does it just feed the cold side.

We have two showers following each other,and has never run out. Fitted to the first caravan 12 years ago ,and fitted the same on present caravan. Have the Boiler temp set on the highest setting, and when mixing with the cold gives ample amount of water. Having been retired 27 years we are away in caravan at least one week of the month for 9 to 10 months of the year ans shower gets used daily. Always on full service pitches so never a problem with water running out. That same valve i fitted to the first caravan 12 years ago,was nearly twice the price of what you can buy it today.

No, the thermostatic valve will only protect from over temperature hot water, it should shut the flow off if it cant bring the temperature down by adding cold water. It does not protect you from under temperature.

Is there not a replacement shower mixer tap available
Your first question has been answered by Birdman regarding “thermostatic shower mixer”.#2

In regard to your last question , yes there is but it is only a mixer tap. See this.

The problem with caravans is the limited space to fit domestic type thermostatic type shower taps. Hence Birdman’s excellent modification.
Not really the answer you were looking for. Something for,us all to,investigate further👍
