Can I use a mobile engineer to service my Elddis within the warranty period or must I return to the dealers?
Can anyone recommend a qualified engineer in Dorset?
Thanks

Q. Does my caravan need to be serviced every year?

A. In order to protect your investment and to comply with the warranty conditions, you must have your caravan or motorhome serviced annually by an Elddis, Compass, Xplore or Buccaneer Approved Workshop or Retailer. We strongly recommend that you continue to have your caravan professionally serviced, even after the warranty has expired.

Graham

It is absolutely essential you follow the T & Cs of your Elddis Warranty.
The above is an extract from their website.
I strongly recommend you obtain Elddis written approval on the mobile engineer you choose.

Any Approved Workshop engineer can service vans within warranty and retain the warranty.

However, that applies ONLY to servicing, if any faults are found with the structure of the van , it is the SUPPLYING dealers responsibility to repair, and if you have had a mobile engineer do the servicing, don't expect your supplying dealer to be very happy to only be asked to do warranty work.

Faulty appliances can usually be repaired by a mobile engineer as the warranty is with the appliance manufacturer and most of the AWS engineers are authorised to carry out warranty repairs on faulty appliances.

For an engineer near you look up Approved Workshops and select your area on the Find An Engineer tab:
http://www.approvedworkshops.co.uk/search/

Footnote:
Dustydog has posted information from the Elddis T&C's, but Elddis are supporters of the AWS scheme and as such Approved Workshop Mobile Engineers CAN carry out servicing and retain the warranty.

Adria are not a UK built van, but even they are in the process of allowing AWS engineers to carry out servicing after the engineer has attended their course........

Agree with Seth, when I inquired of Adria this is exactly what they said, Very strange as their webpage at the time carried quite a big panel about their support for AWS.

This was a major factor in my decision not to buy Adria. Further correspondence on the matter was not answered.

There were two training sessions last year with Adria and members of the Approved Worshop Scheme, the members who attended are now able to service Adria caravans/Motorhomes, but warranty still has to go through dealers...........other than as per Damian's post re third party manufacturers providing the engineer has done their courses.

Adria have a list of engineers on their website.

Yes a mobile service engineer can service your van as long as he is approved by Elddis. How he gets this i dont know, but one i use is audited and had much better results than a large local dealer to me?
Cost wise he beats them hands down and i dont have to take the van anywhere.
He found damp in my van after its second year, although he does do warranty work the supplying dealer took the warranty work on and were extremely good.

The NCC say that all British caravans can be serviced by their approved workshops including mobile ones. The warranty with our Lunar did not say that but referred to Lunar approved service engineers. I did check with Lunar and they confirmed any NCC approved workshop is acceptable to them and not having any serious problems I will use one as the dealer is some 70 miles away. There are a couple of minor problems but the cost of rectifying them does not justify the trip to the dealers.
As noted earlier if you want warranty work done though you need to go to the supplying dealer in most cases. I did note however that Eldiss have appointed a workshop for warranty work in Glasgow where they have no dealers so it may be worth checking if there is one near you if the dealer is not close.

Reading this post puts me in an awkward situation, my elddis van would normally be serviced by gw caravans an ncc approved
workshop but not elddis approved as they say they have enough dealers in the area to do the work.
My concern with this is having seen the quality of workmanship when doing warranty work, do I really want to let them service it, and secondly the approved workshop only charges around £160, and dealers are usually £100 dearer.
I also know that the approved workshop does a very through job as I had them damp test the van after water came in over Christmas, and when the warranty work on that is completed I will get them to check the work very carefully.

It does not put you in an awkward situation.
As Elddis are one of the supporters of the AWS, along with all other UK manufacturers you can still use your preferred mobile engineer as long as he is AWS registered.
It may only throw up a problem if faults are found with the fabric of the van, within warranty period
