Mobile phone tracking

Hi All, I read with dismay how many caravans are stolen and never recovered and I know about the expensive 'Tracker' System that is in use, but wonder if anyone has experience in mobile phone tracking?

I know its not as accurate as 'Tracker' but then it's soooo very cheap.

It seems you only need an old phone (I'm sure every teenager has at least 6 in their bedroom) connected to the caravan battery to keep it charged and a 'Pay as You Go' simm card and a computer to tell you where to look.

If the thief disconnects the caravan battery the phone should be good for a few days I would have thought.

You can also buy a small device called a Tracker from Maplin....

Hi Euro, thanks for that.

I think the downside of this is it needs to look at the sats so if you concealed it you would then have to use an aerial which would also have to be concealed somehow. Maybe!

This sort of system works!

You have a very accurate system and if you want to protect your valuable assets surely you any form of tracker well hidden.

The small size is ideally suited for being hidden on a caravan and it is fine for wiring in to the 12V system.

We had no problem hiding and fitting whilst maintaining satellite view.
