Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Ghia Estate

I have just traded in my trusty old Freelander for a lovely Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Ghia Estate 130. Will be towing a Pageant Monarch. Would like to hear thoughts on the Mondeo and its towing abillity. It goes like a rocket solo so i'm hoping towing will be as good. the Freelander was some what sluggish on acceleration. A bit concerned about not having four wheel drive anymore. Please someone put my mind at rest. Thanks.

Hi Julian,

You should have no problem with your new diesel estate, I have a vectra estate 2.2 dti, never been stuck yet.

This last week we have been on grass, very very soggy three motorhomes had to be towed of with the cc tractor onto the road before they could get going, this was all due to the heavy rains that the site has had.

I just stuck the car in first gear, just let the clutch out and the engine torque just pulled us through the muddy conditions onto the road.

Why I was on grass please see my comments in the site forum

A cracking towcar and as it is the estate it will have self levelling suspension.I had a 130 estate and towed like a dream. Now have the 2.2 saloon and although it has a more powerful engine I do miss the self levelling.

'SNAP'

We too have the same outfit Mondeo ghia and the ser 7 Monarch a great match and you should have no problems.

As far as the 4x4 question is concerned when was the last time you needed the 4 wheel drive to get you on or off site ?.

We have been caravannibg for years and only once did I need assistance from a farmer on his CL to tow the van off with his tractor, there is always someone there to help.

Hope you enjoy

Will

Hi

Does the self levelling suspension make a difference? I had a Zetec S Estate 02 130 which I found had front wheel scrabble. Does this stop the wheel scrabble?

Cheers for now

Julian

I have the mondeo estate 130 ,and a 4x4 Nissan Terrano ,and i tow our 1600Kg Lunar Lexon T/A with both cars , the only way to stop the wheel spin on the Mondeo is not be so heavy with the right foot when pulling off , the Mondeo is a very stable tow car even towing at 100% the only drawback is the low nose weight ,but its certainly got a lot more poke than our 2.7 Nissan Terrano
