mondeo versus vectra ?

My 2.2 Omega auto is a good car but extremely thirsty

so I`e decided to go down the Diesel route I am looking at either a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 130 Estate or a Vectra 2.0/2.2 Tdi estate both used low mileage models. my van is a 2003 Amara 520 and both models seem capable of pulling this van which is never fully loaded as my wife and I now use it only as a 2 berth as the offspring no longer holiday with us.

Thanks for any info

As a Vauxhall owner for 22 years I'd naturally choose the Vectra but in reality there's little to choose so it comes down to which one you like when you test drive them.

I have got the Mondeo TDCI 130 and could sing its praises all day, pulls like a train, etc,but as Roger says it's down to the individual.

I can't fault mine as a tow car but if I was to buy a Vectra I'd go for the 1.9 CDTi 150PS

hi ian

avoid the 2.2dti vauxall like the plague.you will be disapointed.search through previous vectra threads for more details.i speak from expensive experience!

hope this helps

Hi, when not towing the Mondeo is the better car for driving solo. The handling on A and B roads is superior to the Vectra and its general composure on the road is very good. In our family we have had every marque of Mondeo and my wife has an 01 hatch. The 130TDCI is the engine to go for.

Cheers

Despite what david says about avoiding the vectra 2.2 dti like the plague, I have a 51 plate vectra estate 2.2 dti mileage 83000, never had any problems that have kept me off the road,

tows like a dream, get a vey good mpg even when towing my van which is 1200 kg.

My boss has the Vectra 1.9dti on a 55 plate and has just had its first MOT it sailed through as expected but was given a warning that as it neared 100,000 miles to get rid as the fuel pumps fail costing an arm and a leg to repair.

If you go for the mondeo the choose the 2.2 litre diesel this is the better of the range of diesels produced by ford
