Monocular's

Does anyone have any experience of monocular's, i struggle with focus with binoculars. Plus i get nagged about the number of pairs of binoculars i have bought, trying to find a pair i can get on with.

I have a monocular which I used to take with me when out with the dogs. They are okay but you don't seem to get the same depth of field as with binoculars. They are though very useful when out if you do need to view anything, and they are compact. But I understand your problem as being wearer of glasses I still get inferior views even with Zeiss bins as my glasses let light soakage around the edge of the eyepieces even when they are rolled back. My wife though has spectacular vision through her binoculars now she's had her cataracts removed.

See if you can have a test of monoculars at a good optical equipment outlet. For what its worth generations of Naval officers had no problem, although Nelson "saw no ships"

I have a couple of pairs of bino's and a mono which I keep in my rucksack, at the moment I'm pricing and looking at a spotter scope, my neighbour across the road is a big twitcher spending his time over at Rutland water he paid in excess of a grand for his spotter but £100.00 is my price range,

Think my Opticron monocular was just over £100 about five years back.

What I like about the spotter scopes are that you can attach your I-Phone to the lens to take photographs and some of the results I have seen are of a really good standard, we have a big Brown hare population in our area and by next spring I'm looking forward to taking some good photos once I'm up and running,

Managed to get hold of a Opticron HR 20x60 spotter scope and also a Slik Pro700DX tri-pod off my neighbour,
