Hi all, Today I bought some moth balls as they are suppose to stop mice entering the caravan according to some other folks on this forum? There are also comments about how they stink. Well, I love the smell, is this normal lol :) ?

I, too, find the smell quite pleasant - reminds me of Grandma's house. But then she always gave me half a crown so maybe that influences me.

On a serious note. Has anyone any thoughts about how many mothballs are needed and placed where to be effective in, say, a 'van of 18ft. internal length.

Hi,

Moth balls are solid naphthalene - which vaporises directly from the solid - but needs to build up quite a high concentration to be effective deterrent against mice and moths...

And that's the problem, you'll need quite a few moth balls to get the right concentration of vapour, but the more worrying aspect is that naphthalene is now known to be quite toxic to humans

You take them out before using the caravan and vent. God nanny state we live in.
