Hi Guys,

I'm hoping some of you may be able to help me out? We have ordered a new Swift Challenger for our return to caravanning. It will be fitted with a Truma S mover, will I get away with just the 1 battery in the van or should I get an additional one. My gut feeling is that 1 x 110ampere battery will be sufficient. We do not intend to go rallying and will only use EHU on sites.

Hi I have a powrtouch on a 1360 mtplm van with a 85ah battery & even after a 4 day non electric trip I have never had problems with the mover Both on rehitcing on site & manouvering the van back on to the drive at home But I do tend to recharge the battery using a 3 stage smart charger after each trip as the charger fitted in my van does not charge the battery 100%

I would find out if the charger in your new van is of the "smart" variety & will charge your battery fully

Thanks Tony,

That has put my mind to rest! We gave up caravanning in 2002 and motor movers were in their infancy then. With the car manufacturers trend of fitting DMF to cars now, I am reluctant to do any significant reversing, so hence the mover.

I will enquire about the charger fitted to the new van. Reading the forums, chargers appear to be failing in a lot of the recent vans, chargers probably made in China????

one 110 A/H battery will be fine, i only have the standard van charger, so battery is never fully charged, expect when towing via the car.

My cheap battery i bought in 2004, is still doing the job today.

I only use EHU.

David,

I have and can recommend the Numax 113amp Leisure battery. Amongst other things this battery was specifically designed for caravanners with motor movers and was recommended by my dealer.

Thanks Hamer,

By the sounds of it you have found a good battery, I will look out for one.

David.

I have a mover and I have a 85ah battery. It moves the van in and out of my storage plot and on and off the plots on site without any problems. My van is 1500Kg.

I originally bought a 110ah battery but found that it was a very tight fit in the battery compartment on the van and I was forcing the wires over the top of the battery. I took it back to the shop and changed it for a 85ah battery which fits much better and has no problems with the mover.

HTH.

Graeme.
