Motor mover - Jockey wheel

Hi Folks,

Is it a requirement, or just better? to have a pneumatic jockey wheel with a caravan motor mover?

I have seen both type of wheels used but not thinking of having a motor fitted at the time, did not think to ask the question of the owners.

Now that I have pulled a muscle, by getting stuck in a rut when trying to get my van into a tight spot I need a mover fitted (Powrtouch on order)before I can get away on hols in July.

Thanks for any advise recieved,

Pop

POP, it is not essential to have a pneumatic jockey wheel, but it is worth having one.

The solid wheels tend to dig in, especially on soft ground and shingle surfaces, whereas the pneumatic does not, and moves more easily over those kind of surfaces, lessening the strain on the mover.

What I would suggest though, is get one with a metal rim, not the plastic type which are available, a there have been many reports of tyres being "rolled off" these types, and make sure it is kept at its correct pressure, to avoid the same thing happening due to under inflation.

have got a motor mover with solid jockey wheel, must say it would be a lot better with the pneumatic tyre.definately going to get one.the van will move much easier.

Damian & Klarky,

Thanks for the advice. I will look out for a steel wheel & pnuematic tyre as advised. Just what I needed to know.

Cheers,

Pop

Last year I got so fed up with my pheumatic try always going flat on me I filled it with an expanding foam solution.

To be honest ive much more 'faith' in using it now
