There are no real problems other than the noise, i have just bought new tyres today and the old ones were very old with no visible signs of age marks, the new tyres may solve it but will need to wait snd see. I have been intouch with the technical guys at purpleline, they have seen photos and video of it in motion making the noise and they have not yet worked out the cause. I have watched youtube video's by the manufacturer so i know it should not do it. Just s bit frustrating spending all that money on machine and it makes that noise.

Maybe the noise is due to the load being applied to the roller by the tyre Clamping force. Do both motor units make the same noise?
The noise maybe a dry bearing or the roller is moving sideways and fouling against the casing. The Prof is right about the motors being brushed dc motors not steppers. Steppers have 3 or more wires while the motor movers use permanent magnet 2 wire units.

The noise is the same on both tyres, the unit was fitted brand new in february and was installed by a company. I have been in contact with the manufacturers who have not experienced this problem before. I am fitting new tyres as the old tyres were old, i will find out later today if this makes any difference.
The problem is now fixed, after fitting new tyres the noise is gone, the only noise now is the natural noise of the motors.

Purely a guess, but if the tyres were old and had started to delaminate so the internal reinforcement layers were not properly locked together, the indentation of the roller would deform the of tyre enough to cause the internal layers to slip and that might have caused the noise. But I must stress its only a guess, and if it were true the it was definable time to change the tyres!
