Hi, having some issues with the motor mover on our Sterling Europa - late 90s. It it temeramental. Comes on with alternate red and combined blue and green flashing. Then switches off. Been trying to charge battery after so long standing. Shows about 80%. When I leave it to charge for a couple of hours, mover works for one shift then dies. I have a suspician it is a battery issue not giving out full amps?

First check your battery with a multimeter at the battery terminals after you have charged the battery and let it stand for a few hours. Note what that reading is.

Now, with the mover disengaged from the wheels with the multimeter on the battery terminals run the mover forward or backwards and watch what happens to the battery voltage.

If it drops but recovers almost instantly, the battery is OK.

If it drops and stays down, the battery has failed.

In answer to your second question,,,,,,No, it does not need to be reset.

Thanks for that advice. I haven't got a circuit tester handy and in isolation but, I left the battery charging all night and all day and still at about 80%!

Then I looked again and it was nearly max and no response from it at all. My mate thinks there might be rust on contacts in motors from standing for so long?

Looking at the wiring connection the lead has very little protection from the elements. Mine had gaiters which perished after three years. So o removed them cleaned the terminals on motor and leads. I then used electrical waterproof putty to seal around the connections and then applied self amalgamating tape. It all held together very well in a journey of 300 miles in torrential conditions.

I think it is something like that, thanks. It seems to be working more frequently. If I just keep trying the remote. I have been moving it around a bit. Could it even be the remote that's got bashed about in a drawer and is now temperamental?

You keep saying about its state in percentages, what exactly are you using to give this ?

Presumably by saying you are in isolation is something to do with covid, even so, you can get a multimeter delivered to your house easily , and a multimeter is the only way to accurately establish the situation.

I also presume that you have changed the battery in the handset, if not, why not?

The handset is not easily damaged by the odd misuse.

Yes batteries was the first thing I changed in remote thanks at weekend. In isolation as a colleage tested positive and the app told me to isolate even though I tested neg.

Don't think it is the battery now but my friend is dropping a meter over to check. Maybe the meter in caravan isn't quite going to max. When the mover comes on it is fine.
