we bought a elddis autoquest 180 from a dealer on ebay classified. 12 months MOT, 6 months tax, habitation certificat, HPI check, sounds to good to be true. WELL IT WAS!!!!!!.It hadmore damp that the titanic. The dealer is a one man business based in Chorley Lancashire, selling from his home address.
The habitation test he provided was unqualified, insufficient and a total fabrication of the true condition of the vehicle.
After 6 weeks we decided to Px it for a larger motorhome. It was then the true condition was discovered. It had 60% damp in 4 places. The damage had been present for more than 12 months.
This was very dangerous as water ad electricity do not mix, plus the added health hazzard of mould. We contacted the seller, he came to the dealers we were buying the new motorhome from. After a few choice words the seller paid the dealer 2,400 to repair the damage. We mmade the deal and went away with our new motorhome.
Please Please be careful when buying a used motorhome. We were extreamly lucky that it was resolved so quickly, you might not be!!!!!.
shop around, buy from a reputable dealer with good confirmed service history.Check everything, including tyres for cracked sidewalls( potential blow out.Plus it shows it has been stood for a lote
If we had not Pxd,it would have been very cosly 12 months later.
As the seller was not a ltd company, his property was at risk. we think that made him reconsider.one up to us!!!!!.
Remember check check everything, dont leave it to chance
