Mud Wall - Rail Gap.

I have a Scenic plus porch and am very happy with it - But I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to secure the mud wall across the wheel arch - where there isn't any awning rail - as the mudwall tends to fall down - there is awning rail either side of the wheel arch - duck tape doesn't stick to well to the caravan !

Michael, we use small suction cup hooks, available from B&Q, which fix to the van, and eyelets fitted to corresponding points in the skirt.

When travelling, the hooks are taken off the van, and leave a clean van skin, as opposd to another alternative of using velcro on the van and skirt.

Good quality full awnings come with a plastic moulding - "figure of eight" - which is used to link the skirt to the wheel arch cover. This moulding used just with the skirt would provide enough support for the skirt across the wheel gap.

Better caravan accessory shops stock this "figure of eight" moulding.

Roger, I have the part you speak of, but its the top part of skirt that creates the problem at the wheel arch, because the gales still blow through if you dont attach it. I have now made a panel ( white coated aluminium ) that is a tight fit inside the wheel arch and attach the skirt to it, bingo draught-free. I also like Damians idea of the suction cup hooks, no drilling or warranty problems with that one.

Suction cups will only work on smooth bodysides - they won't work on ridged or stippled aluminium.

The idea of an infill piece to stop draughts through the wheel arch, above the skirt, is sound. Any convenient material could be used - 6mm MDF, lightweight ply or aluminium.
