Something that has been on my mind for a couple or more years and I have made my mind up.

June 2019 sees me taking retirement, guess I have had enough of work, I am looking forward to what it brings.

No real plans as yet, I hope I can make the best of it.

Bit of time for me and my wife to spend much more time together relaxing and doing new things (I bet she will regret my decision  ).

Congratulations. I retired in early 2000 and whilst there have been a few bumps on the road I don't regret it. Good luck.

Congratulations, Anseo, Pressie will have so many jobs for you to do that will never get done.
After my retirement, I discovered there were so many beers around the Country that I didn't like. :eek:hmy: . But I had to check twice. Cu at Ingleton. :p

Fab news! Enjoy! My retirement plan is to do a tour of the U.K. over a couple of months, so slowly head down to Cornwall and back stopping along the way and on the way back. Only driving for 1 hour max and a week in each place! Only 30yrs to go!

Let me see if I can help here.

You intend to quit your proper job.
You will be sitting about all day doing absolutely nothing constructive.
You will get bored easily and begin to meddle with things that either dont concern you or you havent the ability to cope with.

Have you considered Politics?

I retired 4 times and then went on to a new job, albeit reduced days each time. Make some travel plans, discuss with other half your ideas. Take care taking on commitments until you know what you’re doing. Enjoy.

Thanks for that waffler, sound advice.

I have already been offered a year rolling contract on reduced days, but I am going to spend time with my wife and see what retirement brings.

If my wife gets fed up with me then I can always look to go back to work :p

Elaine gets fed up with me staying at home with her, tells me to "Go and take the dogs out" then says hang on I will come with you and we end up in the pub, :p Retirement is great. Especially with the caravan, different pubs and new friends, and lots of dog walks.

I retired at the end of Sept 2017, with the intention of never working again. In January 2018, an ex-boss rang me and "bribed" me back to work... It's been fun, and different, and very lucrative despite paying huge amounts of tax, but my contract expires on 6th July, and I'm looking forward to putting loads of miles on the caravan. Both of us enjoyed my 6months at home...

I/we retired in 1996, (a young 53!) with the intention of Caravan Club wardening, but was late finding out I was finishing work and was told by CC full for that year, apply again next year. Well the year in between went superbly, cut your cloth etc. freedom took on a whole new meaning. At the end of the year found we had managed well enough, (6 months total in van) never going to be rich financially but decided to continue freedom -- haven't worked since, and @ 76 ain't gunna start now! -- Happy caravanning
