Nationwide debit card

So Nationwide have deciced to join the rest of the banking fraternity and start to charge for the use of their debit card whilst in Europe Takenote maybe we should threaten a mass walkout.

Surely if this topic was or could be under discussion, it would/should of been more appropriate to be in a general topic base anyway? ?

I'm a Nationwide account holder too. As I understood the blurb, you only get charged 2% anyway. I actually interpreted the explination letter to mean that countries outside the EU were the only ones being charged for. To be quite honest, 2% is still better than most banks charge. I'm not suprised that they have had to go with the flow as earnings from savings is very poor.
My account has no overdraft on purpose because if I haven't got the cash, I don't buy the goods.

At least they send a plain english letter and explain the decission, unlike some banks who charge first and tell you later, if you spot the charge.
