NEC Show - worth going?

Thinking about going to the NEC but wandering if it will be worth it.

We've probably all seen about the demise of Avondale and unconfirmed reports of Discover and Brownhills Leisure Companies being in trouble. I know Brownhills have reduced their attendance at a number of events has have other exhibitors.

My question is do you think that in the current climate the number of exhibitors is going to be affected?

Hi. RogerP. We went last year and enjoyed the day out. We were interested in Coachman Amara and subsequently bought one. The good thing about the show is that you can see all the manufacturers models in the one place. We are not going this year as it is a long, fairly expensive trip from Northern Ireland. Maybe in a few years we will go again. If you haven't been to a show like this before you will probably enjoy it. Henry.

HI Roger

I have been to the February Caravan and Leisure show at the NEC a few times, always been a very good show but cannot comment on the October show. I was at The Lawns exhibition at Cottingham a couple of weeks ago, lots of mud being trampled through the caravans due to the torrential rain prior to the show, but the turn out of people was good on the Sunday. However I did notice that there were a lack of customers attending the finance stands, I'm in the market for a new caravan myself, but I will wait until later this year or early next year (Feb NEC show) as I suspect given the current financial climate dealers might be more generous with their deals just to get units selling.

Enjoy the show

Rob

Hi, we went to the February show at the NEC, great show but the queing on the motorway was horrendous even though the hard sholuder was opened up to let more traffic through. We sat for over an hour just so we could have a very slow drive around the whole of the NEC site before we could park up. I'd like to go again but the thought of all the queing again fills me with dread.

I've thought of using public transport but from deepest Essex it would:-

a)cost a fortune and b) take all day to get there especially if I want to use my wrinklies rail card which doesn't start working till 09:30

To avoid the road congestion use the railway - Birmingham International station adjoins the NEC and is just a short covered walk - if coming from the South East the trains can be joined at any station between Rugby and Birmingham New Street.

Last time I went to the NEC was 2000 - but only to check that my recently ordered caravan wasn't being used as a demonstator !

I shouldn't worry about companies missing the show because they're in liquidation - you wouldn't want to do business with them anyway.

Yes agree with Roger, going by rail is far easier and by buying the cheaper advanced rail tickets probably works out cheaper for us travelling from Lancashire.
