We recently had a four day break at a well known and popular site in Brean to break up our trip back from Cornwall. We stayed there once before, out of season and had a lovely peaceful time. However we had an absolute disaster this time which didn't help with the kids being off.
Our field was full of scruffy transit vans pulling dirty scruffy old caravans and the people weren’t any better. Looked like a travellers site and sounded like one too!! We even had to move pitches after getting smart arse comments from some of the adult idiots. However the main issue was loads of 5-10 year old kids razzing around on electric scooters at nearly 30 mph from 7am to dark. It’s a serious problem and an accident waiting to happen and something needs to be done about very young children racing around on e-scooters at high speeds. I mean these kids (none of whom had any PPE) we travelling at serious speeds and one nearly took me out as they travel virtually silently. I could go on! Beech / sunsets were as beautiful though as ever. Simple pleasures.

Yes gets a bit of a rough area. If you have no children and only Adults there is a small 10 caravan site Adult only at Edithmead only a few yards of M5, that we use as a break .

I took my granddaughter and her friend to Whitemead Park in the caravan. We were pitched in The Dell which provides for circuits around the the site roads that cars, motorhomes and site staff use. Even the two girls got fed up with youngsters on E scooters speeding past, both in daylight and night. I told them not to say anything as one family with a very large propane cylinder laying sideways in the locker were one of the offenders. I reported it to the site manager both on account of the e scooters and gas cylinder. Next day when we arrived back at the van their pitch was vacant. Coincidence or what? I don't know but the incidence of e scooter qualifying laps dropped right down.

We mainly stay on CAMH club sites and are members and stayed on Hurne Lane last year and had a wonderful time.
Regarding Whitemead, we also had 5 days there and even though it was out of season we commented that it might be one to avoid in the school holidays.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention the 'women' smoking in the kids play area wearing their nighware / fluffy dressing gowns at nearly lunchtime! We had the option to stay on until 4pm on the day of our departure. We were on the road by 10am:)

Brean has a few such sites and a bad name for them, which is a shame as it is a nice area with much to see and visit. We are thinking of moving our van there on a residential site if a pitch becomes available.

When touring we normally research our sites. But we once stopped overnight on a site in the area. A bit like your experience. But there was also a market on the field. Absolutely massive. Not the ideal peaceful site we were looking for. But nevertheless, an experience.

As long term CSMA members, we have used Whitmead’s for nearly 40 years. But very occasionally.

They used to hold ‘it’s a knock out’ events in the 80’s which were great fun. But it is generally not our type of peaceful site. However, if in the Forest of Dean, we may use the restaurant.

We used it from years back. Always went for The Dell as it was separate from the other camping areas and quieter. Never encountered any events etc, but it was where our grandson and granddaughter both learnt to swim in the pool. What the youngsters enjoyed were the evening shows for kids, although here se didn’t seem too impressed by the locals. We stayed there last February for five in a lodge down below The Dell with the dog too. It was a no cooking break so local village pubs and Whitemeads facilities were used. Lodge was very comfortable with superb overall warmth throughout. Good discount too being Boundless member.

Did you resort to unity
