New Škoda Kodiaq

We currently have a Yeti which is great apart from the small boot. Problem solved it appears.
Will be looking to test drive asap although it does now look a bit generic SUV and has lost the individuality of the Yeti.

It looks a very good tow car and at the price and with VW running gear it looks a bargain. SEAT have also produced something similar so a comparison of the two might be interesting.

Thats something we'd be interested in,looked at Santa Fe but around 37K for a top of range 7 seater is scary.
Sloda have got rid of the basement image now and if the 7 seater came in around 30k it would sell like hot cakes imo

I think the pricing might be somewhat short of the mark unfortunately.

My 1.4tsi L&K Yeti with a few extras came out to well over £27k list price. I can't really see the Kodiaq being cheaper.

Yes, the pricing IS somewhat short at £27. 😉

It does look a pretty good car, and they don't think the top model will be over £30k, its on the same platform as the VW Tiguan but its longer to accommodate the 7 seats ,Seat's version is not a 7 seater but will start from £17k.

I was hoping this was going to be the Skoda version of the Tuareg/Q7/Cayenne but alas, no. It's not heavy enough to tug my Conqueror 645 (MPTLM 1900kg) so staying with the trusty Sorento for now until the Navara arrives in March.

What's the kerb weight of your Sorento? MTPLM of 1900 kg for the van is quite high?

It's 1953kg. When we bought the van it was plated at about 1760kg so we knew there was very little payload available to us after fitting the mover. As a result we pared our personal stuff to the minimum and shifted as much as we could into the car, observing the axle limits etc but even so we were very close to the MTPLM. The worry was that if push ever came to shove and we were ever stopped and weighed we might be over the limit. So we had the van replated to its max which is still below the kerb weight of the car but we only load it marginally past the original MTPLM by a few kilos (crockery and cutlery). The plan with the Navara is to put ALL the gear (awnings, ground sheets, chairs, water and waste hogs etc) into the car which has a 1 tonne+ payload which will then keep the van lighter still.

I agree, by the time we have put most of our basics, pots pans , crocery, basic food bits, caravan spares, we are getting close to our limits.
We are in the situation of caravan in for repair and , I will weigh everythinlg that goes back into the van, then take it to a weigh bridge and see what the scales weigh in at. And see which way I can go. 150 kg is a lot of payload, but can easiley be used up.
It would be nice to ltake out the travelling iron. !!!

Never even thought of taking a traveling iron. If the clothes get creased that's tough but knowing my wife she has fourteen other outfits with us just for the weekend.

Only 14???

She does not trust the British weather so has something for all eventualities multiplied by the number of days times two that we are away plus something extra in case of unforseen eventualities.

Mrs Hutch is the same, the travel iron is a thowback to month at a time, in France 4 times a year and she wanted something "Nice" to go out in. . Still have the travelling twin tub , any offers. 😛Twin tub that is, not Mrs H.

Good to my word.

I test drove the Kodiaq on Sunday and placed an order for a 2.0ltr diesel SE 2 wheel drive DSG in moon white metallic. Extras towbar and front and rear parking sensors.

Roll on July when it 'might' be delivered.
