New 3 series

Thinking of swapping my Mk5 Golf 2.0 TDI for a new BMW 320d pref with an auto box. Does anyone have any experience of this car? Good or bad, much appreciated!

Paul

We've got the previous model - a 2 year old 320d Touring manual gear box which we had from new. We towed our Bailey Ranger with no problems and got around 30-32mpg. Solo on trips, 55+ if you stick to 75.

Ours is 150bhp and the new one I understand is 165, so more power. Plenty fast enough for me.

Watch out for Golf drivers - they love trying to race, but I ignore them!

Best car we have had and came with a 3 year/60k full warranty but also with 5 year/100k free servicing, but don't know if this is available on the new model.

Hello Paul,

I have the same car you are thinking of buying although mine is nearly two years old. I have nothing but praise for the car as a tow vehicle and I can honestly say it is the best tow car I have owned during the thirty years I have been a caravanner.

plenty of low down torque, stable in high cross winds, economical and excellent brakes.
