new awning or second hand

New on here so hello to all.

we have a two berth van at the moment but will have to upgrade as the family grows (hopefully in the next two years). We would like extra space now and are looking at a full awning. The queation is do we buy new or second hand. We have looked at a derma for about 380 pounds. I like the idea of removing the sides for ease of erecting. any tips would be helpful

Gavin,

We have a little used 2005 Bradcot Classic full awning with the easy alloy pole system in excellent condition that we are having to sell, because we are changing from a 2-berth Swift Charisma to a 4-berth Challenger. It will fit your caravan if yours is a 2-berth too (Size 900) It is green/grey, and we are selling it for

We were told that our van is 775cm is the awning you git too big?
Bradcot awnings are made in the following sizes (cm)

720, 750, 780, 810, 840, 870, 900, 930, 960, 990, 1020 and 1050

The size for our caravan is stated as 888cm and I'm sure the dealer sold us the 900cm, which would be too big for your caravan, Gavin. The only sure way to know your exact awning size for your caravan is to put your caravan on level ground, get a long piece of string and thread it through the awning channel, making sure the string touches the ground on both sides, then measure the length of the string in cm. This is your awning size.

Hi Gavin

We bought our awning via ebay, classed as used but was still in the box with all instructions etc,had never been put up, less than half the price of a new one, it is a Ventura by Isabella, I would advise you to decide what you want, and then keep an eye on ebay, if you are not in a hurry you can get yourself a bargain. In my opinion the best makes to look out for are Isabella, Ventura, Trio or Apache.
