new brake shoes

Hi

My dad is looking for a set of brake shoes for his 1985 avondale perle argos classic caravan.

He's tried a few local caravan dealers but no joy.

I've had a look on various websites but haven't found anything.

Can anybody let me know where he could get a set or is there an equivilent size that would fit?

Many thanks

If you can post a picture of one set it would be helpful. Also if you know the brake system it uses, Knott or Al-Ko.

A last resort would be to get your local car brake shoe supplier to get the ones you have re lined.

Hi Colin,
I would look up Brake Services in your phone book.
I once had trouble getting shoes for an old twin axle lunar delta
I got them relined by alocal Ferodo agent- took worn shoes got
them back following day . I had no further trouble with them.
Before anyone says they are not as good as new they better not
pull up in front of a bus or truck as the big bus and truck companies
use re-shoes. 1/4-1/2 cost of new .

Wattie.

There is nothing wrong with relined shoes if done correctly.
Sadly the days of having experienced mechanics, as opposed to "fitters", who know how to do it is past and in the "throw away" society we live in now, it is getting harder to find such places to do re lines and rebuilds.

hi colin
my friend has two classic cars and allways has the brakes relined as getting new ones is virtually impossible if you have difficulty obtaining any let us know on the forum I will find out where he has them done and if they do mail order.
