Any suggestions on how to find a traditional build caravan that will provide long life? Was thinking about continental builders but want a left hand door and fitted solar.

You may need to define your requirements more precisely - to me "traditional build" includes a loose-skinned roof - most modern British caravans have rigid foam sandwich roofs.

My 1992 Abbey apparently has a floating roof, it's all aluminium bodywork on a timber structure.the roof is of a lattice design, the aluminium roof rests on it except on the very front where the "boat" style panels are fitted with a longitudinal strip approx 1.5m,this method of construction allows for expansion and contraction

Thanks for interest and reply

We don’t want the current fad of a window in the upper section of the front of the van.Example And as I would like, but am not convinced we are going to find, solar panels in or on the roof, the strength of a conventional build, albeit sandwich or modern construction.

Solar panels are a relatively straightforward aftermarket item so focus your search on caravans without the curved rooflight.
