Hi all,

Have just joined on here as a newbie to caravanning in the hope of lots of lovely info!!
I have caravanned as a kid with my grandparents (when caravans still had gas lamps!), and more recently camped in a tent but my hubby hated it, so we have taken the plunge and got us a little home from home.
I do lots of dog agility shows through the summer, and we are both into road cycling so the van should give us plenty of opportunity to do both. 🙂
We have just bought 'Connie' a 2002 Coachman Amara Golden Festival 500/5 to see how we get on. At the moment still trying to figure out how everything works! Sure it'll all become clear on our first trip in a couple of weeks. :lol:

Hi Sal & Phil, lovely to read your chirpy new posting, welcome to the Forum! Hope you enjoy your outings in 'Connie', and good luck with the dog agility sessions. I keep meaning to get involved in that myself. I have a 4 yr old Bearded Collie; full of beans, I'm sure she'd thoroughly enjoy it! My only hesitation at doing it is that at my age, I'm not quite as agile as Echo, I think I would struggle to keep up with her!

Keep us posted about your experiences in your new caravan. See you on the circuit one day maybe!

I'm sure you could do agility cybercynth, you'd be amazed at the range of people who do. A show over the summer had a lady competing in a 4x4 electric scooter and her dog was taught to 'wheel' instead of 'heel' - very clever. :lol:

I'm sure there wil be many questions - going having a caravan morning this morning to clean and try things out. Only thing is we have no access to mains electricity in storage unit so only gas and leisure battery. I know we need a couple of parts - an outside locker latch, a roof vent fly screen cover and a new freezer box door in the fridge - but we are not far from the shops at camper lands and glossop, and there's always Google!!

Thanks sal, another problem I have with Echo is her level of excitability. At times, when she's really, really having fun she gets VERY vocal and just barks incessantly, despite my best efforts to quieten her down. We were expelled from one dog club because of Echo's 'disruptive behaviour'! That's how bad she is!

Hi sal and Phil, welcome to the forum and to caravanning. Me and my mut are beginners (8 weeks in) to agility training. The mut is not too bad, shame the same can't be said of her handler who is struggling to tell her right from her left. do you compete with kennel club or ukagility or both?

Sorry for late reply, been offline for a bit!

Mel, I still struggle with left & right a bit after 3 years! It's hard when your brain doesn't move as fast as your dog!!
We mostly compete kennel club. Have done a few unaffiliated shows too, but not UKA.
