New member from the continent

I ordered my new caravan for March 2018: did caravaning in the 80’s, but with changing family etc was dormant till now. Looking forward to restart caravaning now in my retirement years. I live in the Netherlands and here the choice is between English build caravans and continental build ones- read between Swift(called Sprite here) and continental build caravans. Even the Sprites have different names e.g. I ordered a Sprite Cruzer 460, which will be a Swift Challenger in the UK. I am learning fast. Thanks for having me.

It’s not an uncommon Dutch surname and other caravan forums have Dutch and German members. PC had “Lutz” for several years so I for one would welcome a new member. There are 1900+ on LinkedIn.

Nieuwoudt, It seems I got it all very wrong 😳

A sincere welcome to the forum from a very apologetic Anseo

Accepted: I nearly Nexit .
The surname is a common South African one- meaning New+ old. In Dutch.
The guy you refered too is dead and no family.

Also welcome to the forum Nieuwoudt , we also have just bought a swift , and are happy with it . Great van .
Craig , happy caravaning .

Hi Nieuwoudt and welcome to the Practical Caravan forum – it's great to have you on board! And welcome to caravanning. Ask any questions you need to!

Hi Nieuwoudt, welcome to the forum and welcome back to the great pastime of caravanning.
Many British caravan owners think that continental caravans are superior to those built in the UK, and I'm sure that many fellow forum members will be interested to hear your take on this issue, and of course to share tips, ideas and information with you.
I hope that you'll have many happy times with your Sprite / Swift. 🙂

the take at this stage is that the Swift group caravans are markedly more luxurious: what they are is home away from home- more than what the others from here give. But: that iis only by googleling etc: give me 10 moths.to assess the Sprite/Swift. I did caravanning in the 80's in South Africa with a Sprite Caravelle- we did about 4000km per year, but what one see in these Swift products really blows the mind! Can't wait to get into the new one: one do not want to wish your life away but: come on summer come on!
I had been traveling last year through Poland with a rented camper and if anyone is interested I can give an idea how camping in Poland is- cities included.

Welcome to the Forum Nieuwoudt, as a couple of Dutch caravan friends of our has stated , our caravans are "Dolls Houses" they tend to have all sorts of Things hidden away in them.
Hutch.

I hope so, I have covered 42, 000 miles now in 3 years and towed about, 8,000 miles around France and Uk. Its a good tow car. I thought your road tax for petrol was very high or has that changed.

Welcome to the site.
We have had great pleasure in touring your wonderful country, have friends in Groningen and our favourite site we have stayed at many times is Camping Akkertien, Vollenhove. Wonderful area for caravanning ( Flat well built roads ) very welcoming people and many interesting places to visit.
Veel gelukkige vakantie in uw nieuwe caravan, Doei.
