I find my sat-nav to be conveniant for the following reasons
It tells me when I am on the motorway in europe well in advance what lane I need to be in when changing direction it also tells me what lane to be in advance when you have a split motorway junction if you know what I mean by a split junction.
When I went to germany last year we programmed in a campsite looking before hand at the map in the book it said dont take the first turning because it had a low bridge which caravans could not pass The sat nav recognised this and sent me to the second turning so I cannot fault the sat nav.
I can read a map but there is a diffrence between reading and understanding many years ago I had freind who could truly read a map such as Identifying rivers railways and the likes.
Unfortunatly I am limited to roads, towns and directions so for the timebeing I will stay with my sat-nav which I deam to be safer than me reading a map
