when connecting the hose from the caravan to the fresh water barrel and when it is in the barrel it floats to the top,so i need something to give it a bit of weight to hold it in the barrel,any suggestions,Thanks,

You should have a water pump at the end of the pipe. Its a complete item witch plugs into the side of the caravan. One end a plug/ socket pipe with water pump on other end. You have a new sprite alpine the dealer should have supplied this item and showed you how it works.

Wrong Stephen, the water pumps on board, Eddie try replaceing the flex part half way down with a bit of rigid pipe and conecters from Wilko's or where ever.

maybe the filter is missing off the end of the pipe?

So they have gone back to onboard pumps again. My very first caravan was a sprit alpin back in the 60s with bellows and eleck-pump. If I live long enough all change again.

Eddie, you need Aquaroll's cap with an integrated tube down which you slide the suction pipe so its located at the bottom. It works a treat.
