New to caravaning and worried about my towcar

Hello,

I am about to buy a caravan and have checked my towcar for suitability but now have doubts i own a 2003 X-Trail the 2.2 deisel model and was looking at buying a Elddis firestorm 505 which has a MTPLM of 1350kg, i felt sure i was okay with the 85% rule but have read some other info and now have doubts, could anyone putmy mind at rest. The max towload of the 2.2DCi X-Trail is 2000kg and its kerbweight around 1600kg, so on paper at least, you shouldn't have a problem.

the firestorm is based on the corona and is 1350 kgs max

these are the specs of the x-trail

you will find min kerbweight is 1515 kgs max 1633(this depends on accessories fitted)which gives at lowest kerbweight an 89-90% match which is perfectly ok.not the 85% you wanted but safe.

milenco mirrors are the best a tad more expensive but good
