New to caravaning

Hi all,

We are looking to make our first jump into caravaning and are looking for advice.

We are looking for a 4-birth van, probably end-bedroom, in the price range of 2000-3000 pounds. Has anyone any recommendations in relation to manufacturers etc.

We are towing with a Scenic diesel so it may have to be a lighter weight van. I think we could go to 1100kg max. on the van.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan

The best approach would be for you to look at adverts which show caravans for sale which are within your budget, determine if your Scenic will tow them legally and safely and then take it from there.

There is no one manufacturer that stands out as producing more durable or reliable caravans, the condition of a used caravan is far more important than it's age or manufacturer.

Check for evidence of service history, overall condition, safety (brakes, hitch,)and above all check carefully for signs of damp which is the greatest caravan killer of all.

Look inside cupboards, under bed boxes, along seams and joins inside and out and pay particular attention to areas behind curtains (look for signs of mould on curtain linings) and around windows.

There is some basic information Here and also on the CaravanFinder Here which may help and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Good Luck
