new to tourers

Hiya, as you've already guessed were new to all this. when we decided to buy a tourer we had to find one that our car - a vauxall zafira 1.6 life could tow, after much searching we found an Avondale ' golden mayfair' (dart) at 922kg and settled for that. our first trip away was a complete success and we had no trouble at all towing. we did all the calculations and worked out that we were getting 27.4 mpg which i did'nt think was bad, having read the articles about much bigger tow cars /vans who get quite a lot less than this i'm glad we got the Avondale . Welcome to the forum Bill. We had a 1.6 Zafira but changed to a 1.9 cdti 150bhp Zafira when we bought our caravan. We get around 26 mpg when towing so you're doing pretty well with yours. Our van is heavier though with an MTPLM of 1390 kg and we travel with 5 of us in the car so that will make a difference.
