New Tyres

Hello to you all,

this is my first posting on this site,and I need some help please.

I am having the tyres replaced next week and was wondering is there going to be a problem jacking the van up. I ask this because I have a mover fitted and also the spare tyre carrier underneath.

Thank you,

Bob,

North Wales

Bob, as long as you, or the fitter, can get a trolley jack under the reinforced web of the axle tube, or under the axle tube itself, ther should be no problems.

Forgot to add, under no circumstances jack in any other place along the chaassis rails.

They simply will not take the load and WILL distort, needing a new chassis.

If at all possible it's safer if you hook the van onto the car, this holds the van steady and helps stop it possibly falling off the jack

The best position is at the back of the wheel where the axle tube joins the side chassis. There is a stiffening plate here as well. As mentioned use the steady legs to give a bit of stability and extra safety. Of course ensure the other wheel is chocked securely.

Hello Scotch Lad,

thank you for that tip I will check that.

after a long search for the correct size and loading i am having three fitted this week.shame as front has not been on the road but is going on for 7 year old.0803.if you need to replace 195/70/SR14/96N,a good replacement is 195/70/SR14/95S

MAKE = SF 226 95S RF BRIDGESTONE.

If it is possible also use a piece of wood as a spreader between jack and chassis. However, sometimes the height of the jack makes this impossible.

3 tyres fitted now,biggest problem was getting the front tyre out,as it has never been fitted or used in 7 years.really struggled to get it out without cracking the front panel.after fitting a new tyre of the same measurements as the old one the wheel would not go back in under any circumstance.had to let down the tyre completely and then reinflate it.now convinced the wheel was placed in before the front panel was fitted.even removed the rubber trim without a result.hope i do not need it for another 7 years.
