New Vectra towing capabilities

I own a 2002 latest shape vectra 1.8 16v 125 bhp hatchback. I am new to carvanning wishing to purchase or tow a van no more than 1100 kgs laden. The cars max tow is 1400kg and this weight is within the 85%, however has anyone any real experience with tis kind of weight with my car? many thanks

I can't comment on your Vectra but all Vauxhalls are good towcars, WHEN kept within their limits. I have an Astra 1.8, lighter at 1254 kg than your Vectra but towing it's limit of 1200 kg, which it does admirably. As your outfit will be well below 85% it should be fine.

I have the new shape Vectra 1.8. I tow a van with an MTPLM of 1156KG. There are 4 of use & I think the car copes realy well. When on the motorway just remember its best not to use the cruise control when in 5th gear, it loses speed quickly. If you dont use the cruise control you can maintain 60 mph easely on slight gradeants. on steeper gradeants remeber to change down to 4th earley keep the revs up and it goes up most hills doing 60mph. when towing iv been getting about 28 mpg. I hope this helps. when I first got the car I was Haprehensive about the cars towing capabilities but I am now realy pleased with it. Stean

I tow a Bailey Ranger 510/4 with my 2.2 Vectra, no problems obviously, and my last old style 2.0 vectra was great also.

Only wish I could get 28mpg. with the 2.2 it is about 24 mpg towing.
