We also did similar in Kent during the build-up for D-Day to fool the Nazis that the invasion would be in the Pas de Calais.π
Could be useful. At some stage during WW2 we put a lot of plywood vehicles including tanks in the desert. German observation planes were fooled into thinking it was the real thing. Evidently they could not judge they were not full size from the sky.
