This morning I read about a disaster at a Mount Maunganui Beachside Holiday Park camp site near Welcome Bay in New Zealand. Apparently there was a landslide which destroyed several caravans which may have been occupied. Some children may be missing. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...nganui-landslide-latest-updates-b2905363.html
With increasingly wet weather in various countries this sort of incident will unfortunately occur more frequently. The second recent Spanish rail crash was caused by a land slip, and one occurred in Scotland just a few years back. Our GWR between Swindon and Bristol will close at times of severe weather due to ground conditions related to dry summers followed by wet periods that renders the ground unstable.

And still some politicians deny Climate Change or think it doesn't matter.

If you want to discuss climate change please start your own thread as this thread is about the disaster and those that lost their lives in this disaster. Please lets spare a moment for them and their families and not detract from that issue. Thank you as I would prefer no Fred Drift on this disaster!
