Ok here go's

I am looking at taking the family wife, me, two teens 15 & 13 plus the baby 1. away Idealy depart May 27th return Jun 3rd (to fit in with school hols) I have never been to Europe or driven on the wrong side of the road, We will need a fairly active site in order to keep the kiddies amused. for this our first overseas adventure I wouldnt want to go too far. We are from near Darlington (North East) so can go locally from Shields( North) for Holland or drive south for France. Any recomendations for Sites to stay at And local attractions to visit would be very helpful. I have also just sent for the CC Bible Europe1.

Don't hang around booking your ferry! The week you want is a pretty popular one, though the north sea routes might be less booked up? We went to Holland last year (August) - it rained a lot! We stayed at Konigshof, near the Hague, which was OK - there is a much bigger site at Wassenaar - Camping Duinrell? - which has a massive water park & is next to a theme park which might keep the teens amused? If you get a ferry into Hook of Holland it wouldn't be more than about a fifty mile drive? However you need to watch out for bikes in Holland! Amsterdam is brilliant (& has amazing park & ride system), lots of quaint towns like Delft or Leiden, and people speak good English (just as well as we couldn't speak Dutch). Also it seemed to us that hardly anywhere in Holland takes credit cards, including supermarkets!!!!

Try Duinrell near Amsterdam - pool complex and amusements next door. Not far from Efteling theme park too. BUT get booking A.S.A.P. if you are going D.F.D.S. and ask if there are still free places for the 'van. We are going out on a Tuesday in July and returning on a Wednesday in August with the 'van free both ways 'tho I did book in Feb. You get used to driving on the right - just remember in Holland cyclists often have right of way - as when you are turning right ( across a cycle path ) you should let them past before completing your turn.
